Vincent Kompany to take over as the manager of relegated Burnley

Vincent Kompany: Following the relegation of Burnley to the Championship there is a lot of speculation over the future manager of the club. Few sources suggest that caretaker manager Mike Jackson who put up a valiant fight will take over as the permanent manager. However, we hear that the club has put a shortlist for potential alternatives.

Here is what Jackson had to say ahead of Burnley’s defeat against Newcastle: “We’ve not spoken about it. We’ve not had time to even think about that. My full focus has been on trying to achieve this.

“Let’s see what happens on Monday morning. Fingers crossed everything goes how we want, then we’ll have a good Monday.”

According to few sources, however, Vincent Kompany is among the shortlist for Burnley. This has escalated after Kompany confirmed his departure from Anderlecht. On Wednesday, he stated: “Today only one feeling prevails: I am proud that I was able to start this new chapter at the club of my heart. I have now been a player and a coach of RSC Anderlecht, but above all I remain a loyal fan.”

However, it remains a doubt, if the Belgian would accept the role as apparently he has set his ambitions high.

“I will sit down with the board [this summer],” Kompany said ahead of his final match with Anderlecht. “We’ll see if the goals for next season are achievable. Shouting about winning is one thing, doing it is another.

“I’ve just not thought about [the job] at all. All my thoughts have been how can we achieve what we want to do.”
