Tottenham and Forest deny Crystal palace and Southampton of any points respectively. Leeds, West Ham, Villa and Wolves got their hands on a point each last night in the Premier League.
Crystal Palace 0-4 Tottenham Hotspur
Conte was still very disappointed with the loss against Villa on Sunday, as a result of which Spurs lost a place in the top four to Manchester United. The Italian coach said after the game that his team needed time and patience and that perhaps it simply could not be better than fifth place. On Wednesday, his formation at least gave the right answer to a visit to Palace.
Tottenham initially had a difficult time against Palace, which had more opportunities in the first half. After the break, Kane made the difference. The striker played his 300th game in the Premier League and graced the landmark with two goals. He first headed in on a pass from Ivan Perisic, then scored five minutes later after a pass from Bryan Gil: 0-2. Matt Doherty then signed for the 0-3 after preparatory work by Heung-Min Son, who himself scored the fourth goal.
Leeds United 2-2 West Ham United
Crysencio Summerville started the match between Leeds United and West Ham United energetically. The Dutch attacker combined with Wilfried Gnonto after half an hour and saw his teammate open the score. It was Summerville’s first assist in the Premier League. West Ham, however, fought back. After a foul by Pascal Struijk, Lucas Paquetá converted a penalty kick, after which Gianluca Scamacca took the lead shortly after the break.
Summerville would have liked to show himself afterwards, but he was replaced by Jack Harrison after an hour. That also had to do with the fact that the attacker had picked up a yellow card just before because of a hard foul on Vladimir Coufal. Without Summerville, Leeds fought for a point. Harrison handed the ball over to Rodrygo Moreno, who hit the left corner from outside the penalty area: 2-2.
Southampton 0-1 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest did excellent business in the confrontation with direct competitor Southampton. The PhD student booked the fourth win of the season through a goal from former NEC striker Taiwo Awoniyi and thus came above the relegation line for the first time since September. Forest benefited from the defeats of competitors AFC Bournemouth and Everton. Southampton just had a bad evening and is still at the bottom after Wednesday with only twelve points.
Aston Villa 1-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Emiliano Martínez made his comeback at Aston Villa after the World Cup win with Argentina. The reality of the Premier League immediately came close, because after just twelve minutes the keeper had to fish when Daniel Podence opened the score. For a long time, Wolverhampton Wanderers seemed to book an important victory in the fight against relegation, but Danny Ings set the final score at 1-1 in the 78th minute. Leon Bailey missed a huge chance in extra time to make it 2-1 for Villa.
