Tottenham 1-2 Liverpool: Salah’s double guides Klopp’s men to their first league win on the road

Tottenham 1-2 Liverpool: Liverpool have won the Premier League after heartbreaking defeats to Nottingham Forest and Leeds United. Jürgen Klopp’s team won 1-2 against Tottenham Hotspur in a match played in London. For the visitors, Mohamed Salah scored both goals. Liverpool moves up to ninth place, while Tottenham remains in fourth place.

Tottenham 1-2 Liverpool: Salah’s double takes his goal tally to 14 goals this season

Salah needed some time and effort to get up to speed this season, but his dominance against Tottenham was clear. Andy Robertson fired a crisp, low cross to Darwin Nez in the twelfth minute, who collected the ball and served Salah into the turn. The Egyptian then scored the first goal from close range.

Soon after, Liverpool took advantage: goalkeeper Alisson Becker completely missed a cross from Harry Kane and was relieved when Ivan Perisic headed the post. Alisson produced a fantastic save in the aftermath of a wager by Pierre-Emile Hjbjerg. In addition, Tottenham posed little danger in the first half.

Five minutes before halftime, Liverpool extended their lead. Eric Dier was given credit for the goal after the Tottenham defender foolishly headed the ball back to Hugo Lloris, allowing Salah to intercept it and flick it over the goalkeeper. Tottenham came close to scoring early in the second half, thanks to a header from Dier and a shot against the crossbar from Perisic, before Kane restored the game’s tension.

The striker received the ball in the penalty area from substitute Dejan Kulusevski and struck diagonally into the left corner, prompting the crowd to chant for more. Tottenham, of course, launched a last push and frequently reported around the opposing box, but genuine chances were few. As a result, Liverpool secured a much-needed victory. Virgil van Dijk played for The Reds for 90 minutes.

The Merseysiders will face Southampton next Saturday in the league before the break. The Londoners will face Leeds United on the same day. LFC and THFC will have EFL Cup fixtures against Derby and Nottingham Forest respectively this midweek.
