Torino Confirms One COVID-19 Positive Case, and It Is a Player

Torino confirmed the first round of medical testing for COVID-19 with one positive case. It revealed an unidentified player tested positive for COVID-19 and was put in quarantine.

It was during the initial screening that Torino found one of its players tested positive for COVID-19 according to Football Italia.

The club is not yet naming the player but has stated that he has no symptoms and that he was immediately put in quarantine.

“After an initial medical examination, one of our players has tested positive for COVID-19. The player, currently asymptomatic, has been immediately quarantined and will be constantly monitored in the upcoming days,” the club said.

This will be the first real test of the medical procedures set up for the early resumption of the 2019-20 Series A season, as the nightmare scenario was always thought to be a positive test match. The medical procedure had only one player quarantined, while the scientific committee created by the government required the entire team to be quarantined for 14 days.

Series A sides were permitted to resume individual training this week while retaining social distance controls. Before opening the door, however, both players and staff are screened for both swabs and blood tests.

Italy must continue to focus on the plan introduced today by the German Government and the Bundesliga, which would only isolate the player or the member of staff who tested positive.
