Former Liverpool striker, Taiwo Awoniyi has joined Nottingham Forest from Union Berlin.
Sources have suggested that the transfer cost a club-record fee of 17 million pounds ($20.85 million) The newly promoted club announced this on their website: “Nottingham Forest are delighted to confirm the signing of Nigerian international forward Taiwo Awoniyi for a club record fee.
“The 24-year-old joins The Reds from Bundesliga club Union Berlin, signing a five-year-deal at The City Ground.”
“I’m very excited to be here at Nottingham Forest,” said Awoniyi following his move to The City Ground. “It’s always been my dream to play in the Premier League and having spoken to Steve Cooper about our ambitions and looking at Forest, with its great history, it’s a club that I want to be part of.
Manager Steve Cooper added: “There’s been a lot of interest in Taiwo from other Premier League clubs, and other clubs across Europe, so we’re delighted that he’s chosen Nottingham Forest.
“Our recruitment and coaching teams have been monitoring his progress closely over the last few months. He’s a player who we really believe in and we look forward to him going on to fulfil his potential. And become a top Premier League striker with Nottingham Forest.”
The German outfit has confirmed the same, they stated: “1. FC Union Berlin’s record Bundesliga goalscorer Taiwo Awoniyi has completed his return to the Premier League and the Nigerian striker will join Nottingham Forest.”

And felt really comfortable,” said Awoniyi on his departure. “I had the opportunity to develop here and to celebrate great achievements thanks to my team-mates and the coaching staff.
