Luis Suarez said he was proud after being supported by Lionel Messi during his scandalous departure from Barcelona.
“Leo knows me well and is well aware of my level of conviction,” he told reporters.
Last season, Suarez scored 21 goals in 36 games, but new Barca coach Ronald Koeman had no place for the Uruguayan while he rebuilds the Blaugrana.
So, he left Barcelona in tears to transfer their La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.
And Suarez, who was the winner of 13 Barca awards, said he was proud to have made such a good impact.
“Being able to leave a good legacy behind me is a source of pride,” he said. “Now I have moved on and it is a huge encouragement to enter this competitive side.”
