St Etienne vs Auxerre: Post match reactions

Jean-Marc Furlan, Auxerre coach: “It’s exceptional! AJA had been playing maintenance in Ligue 2 for seven years (when it arrived in 2019) and there, we managed to get that! This is the first time that a Ligue 2 team has managed to climb in this configuration (with pre-dams, passed against Sochaux, 0-0, 5-4 on pens), so I am very satisfied.

“I’m really very happy for the players, even if when you’re a club coach, it’s very stressful and you don’t have a social life. My first driving force is how I make my players adhere to consistency, a game project and a desire to work every day. When at the end, they say thank you and kiss me, it’s really nice. (For more) I’m at the end of my contract, so we’ll see. As we are in Ligue 1, Guy Roux will take over the team (giggles).

Gaëtan Charbonnier (attacker from Auxerre): “I came for that, mission accomplished! It’s three years of work from the coach, I arrived on the last one and I registered in this collective. Now that we have the Grail, we can’t wait to be able to celebrate with the Auxerre public. We see that when we give a quality coach time to work well, we get results. It’s full of football ideas and everyone likes it.
