Shevchenko: My Priority Is to Return to the Rossoneri as a Coach

Milan legend Andriy Shevchenko has reported that he would like to return to Milan in the position of a coach one day.

“I want to return to Milan as their coach one day. Milan will always be in my heart, I have great affection for their fans,” he told Milannews.it. “Let’s see when and if it will happen, but one of my objectives is to return to the Rossoneri as a coach.”

Shevchenko has been Milan’s most prolific striker in the last 25 years, scoring 175 goals over two periods and winning the Champions League between 1999 and 2009.

The 43-year-old has been the CT of Ukraine since 2016, recently leading them to qualify for Euro 2020:

“For now, I’m only thinking about Ukraine. I’m focused on just the national team. Right now, the most important thing is to try to finish this season. Every player has to give their all to finish the season well. After that, we’ll see what happens next and what future Milan will have.”

He thus harbours hopes of handling Diavolo one day. For now, though, he had a piece of advice for the Rossoneri’s current crop:

“I tell them to always give their best in training and during games. That way, they’ll have the respect of the fans.”
