Roberto Olabe, the sporting director of Real Sociedad, claims that Martin Odegaard wishes to stay for another season at the club.
“Martin decided to come to us after having an agreement with [Bayer] Leverkusen,” Olabe said in a videoconference with the media says Marca.
He joined Real Madrid last summer on a two-year loan contract. Now, Real Madrid’s possibility of recalling Odegaard this summer has been talked about, rather than letting him stay at Real Sociedad for the two years previously agreed.
“We’ve had a special relationship with Real Madrid for some time,” Olabe said. “There is an open conversation and they know how Martin is and what he’s thinking. I’m moderately optimistic from what I see on Martin’s face. I have a lot of confidence in him, not just as a player, but how he is. I’m more worried about Martin than Madrid.”
Moreover, this campaign was incredibly successful for the Norwegian, which may induce him to stay on:
“I imagine that he liked what he heard and saw, and I understand that it’s going to be similar now.
“We have to let him express himself, not just as a player, but as a person too.”
