It was a “tough time” for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford under Jose Mourinho. Rashford recently opened up about the time that Mourinho took charge of the Red Devils.
Mourinho led the Red Devils around 2016 and 2018. This was incidentally a time in which Rashford was beginning to make a name for himself at Old Trafford and rising above the ranks. England’s international chalked up 28 goals and 20 assists under Mourinho. He now confesses he had a difficult time under Mourinho back then.
Not to worry however, Rashford means this as the highest compliment to Mourinho- after all, he credits his present success to his growth under Mourinho. According to the Manchester United Podcast, Rashford said: “It was tough but I think when you look back on it in five or six years they’re the moments that give you that mental toughness.”
This season, Rashford has notched up 19 goals in all competitions for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, including 14 in 22 Premier League outings. What is the reason for his improvement?
Rashford believes that his stint under the Spurs manager has shaped him into the player that he is today. “As an all-round player I’ve improved a lot and a lot of it is down to those two years under Jose. We had ups and downs – when I look back at it, it was a tough period but definitely a period that made a better player”
