Player Bought by Leicester in a Record Deal in 2016 Now Wanted by WBA

WBA is interested in bringing Islam Slimani from Leicester City, the English Telegraph writes today.

Slimani arrived in Leicester in 2016 in a then-record transfer for the club of € 30 million. He was Claudio Ranieri’s first purchase after winning the English title.

Slimani has spent the last two and a half years as a Leicester City player working on loan at Newcastle, Fenerbahce and Monaco.

He spent last season on loan in Monaco, where he scored nine goals in 18 appearances and set up seven.

And now he has reached the end of his contract so Leicester want to cash him in while he still can.

The WBA would love to bring him on loan for one year with a buyout option, but it is questionable whether Leicester would agree to a transfer other than a sale.

Slaven Bilic’s team started the Premiership season with one point in three games and the management is aware that new names need to be brought to the club to stay in the league.
