Pires Dreams of Coaching a Team

Ex-Arsenal star Robert Pires has announced his readiness to become a short-term head coach.

“I’ve taken that route and it still allows me to be in football. But I think coaching is a great job, even if it’s hard on a daily basis. I think I’ll decide to take the coaching diplomas in the years to come, and I’m planning to do it in Spain,” said Pires in an interview with Moroccan journalist Zineb El Houari. “There are some who made the decision to become a coach or sports director or a consultant.”

The 46-year-old is not currently employed as a full-time coach, but during the last few seasons he has done work helping out at the Gunners.

“I can’t say which team I will be coaching for. I can’t choose honestly. If you’re a coach you can’t know where you are going,” he said about his future. “I can tell you I’m going to train Arsenal, Metz, Reims, Marseille or Villarreal but I can’t. It’s complicated today.”
