Newcastle United asked to secure the services of Nick Pope to replace Martin Dúbravka

Newcastle United: Martin Dúbravka has made 130 appearances for Newcastle United since his move from Sparta Prague in 2018. However, at the age of 33, the new owners are looking to replace him.

Many sources suggest that the Magpies are looking to make a move for Manchester United’s Dean Hennderson. With Henderson desperate to make a move away from Old Trafford due to limited game time. Especially with De Gea looking impressive and showing no signs of slowing down.

However, former Leeds United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny had other ideas. Kenny spoke to Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild regarding this. The former shot stopper has suggested Nick Pope as a better alternative.

He added that since Burnley are relegated, the England international can be secured for close to nothing.

Kenny said: “If I was going to sign anyone for a big fee, it would be Pope at Burnley,”

“Pope is older than someone like Dean Henderson but all that means is Pope is in his prime.

“Pope has been unbelievable recently, I really do rate him.

“He would also be a lot cheaper than Henderson. I think Pope could be signed for next to nothing.

“Burnley need to sell and Pope won’t want to stay. They can get that deal done.

“He will be safe hands for the next couple of seasons and he adds a bit of depth there even if Dubravka stays on.

“It’s a no brainer for me.”
