Former player of Liverpool and Leeds Dominic Matteo has confirmed he has completely healed from a brain tumour.
Matteo, who represented Scotland six times, retired in 2007 after previously played for Blackburn and Stoke. The 45-year-old had surgery to remove the growth in November and had completed recovery for six months.
On Thursday, Matteo announced the news on Twitter, thanking the workers at Leeds General Infirmary and St James’ Hospital.
“I received the phone call yesterday, the one I hoped for … my brain scan is clear,” tweeted the retired Scottish international.
“After 6 months of anxiety, suffering, recovery, surgery and care. I’m safe! It feels incredible!”
