Marseille legend Steve Mandanda has joined Stade Rennais on a two year deal. The club announced: “The man with 695 professional matches. And 34 selections with the French team, a French reference in his position, has chosen his new home base. And he will be Breton. The Marseille legend signed a two-year contract with Stade Rennais FC”
Rennes added: “Five times voted best goalkeeper in the French championship – unique performance in this position -, winner of the French championship in 2010, the League Cup three times, 2018 world champion… do we still need to introduce Steve Mandanda? By a few numbers, his CV is impressive. 613 is the number of games played with OM, which makes him the most capped player at the Marseille club. It’s also more than 100 European Cup matches including a Champions League quarter-final in 2012, a Europa League final in 2018 and a Conference League semi-final last season. 226, the number of clean sheets made in his career.”
The reaction of Olivier Cloarec, Executive Chairman of Stade Rennais FC: “I am very happy to welcome Steve, who needs no introduction. Steve has a considerable track record. His high-level experience will undoubtedly benefit Stade Rennais FC and its locker room. It is an arrival which corresponds to the ambitions of the club. Steve’s choice demonstrates once again that the club has changed in size. Given his personality and the osmosis that reigns in our group. I know that his integration into the club will be rapid.
