According to a source, Manchester United have opened talks with free agent striker Edinson Cavani over a move to Old Trafford.
On the back of an underwhelming start to the 2020-21 season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is supposedly desperate to bring in a new player of some kind to strengthen his ranks.
But in their summer-long search of a new striker, the Red Devils were left disappointed.
Their offer for Sancho from Borussia Dortmund also failed to materialize.
Emphasis has now turned to Cavani, who has been without a club since leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his contract in June, according to the Daily Mail.
It is said that the 33-year-old, previously associated with a move to Real Madrid, is open to joining a Premier League team.
Cavani scored 200 times in 301 games during his tenure at the Parc des Princes to become the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.
