Liverpool is optimistic in negotiating with Georginio Wijnaldum now, following successful talks on a deal extension of at least three years, The Guardian reports.
Wijnaldum joined Liverpool in 2016 from Newcastle. He has appeared in the Premier League twenty-eight times this season to bringing Liverpool close to a first in 30 years top flight win.
The contract for the player ends in June 2021, yet he is eager to remain at Liverpool.
The Netherlands international, who will be 30 in November, is in line for a 2024 or 2025 contract, with salaries not expected to be a major obstacle.
Before entering into discussions to extend his career at Anfield, Wijnaldum wanted assurances that he would continue to be considered a key player.
