Diego Carlos: Aston Villa have already got themselves busy in securing deals for the next season. The club first brought Philippe Coutinho on a permanent to Birmingham from Barcelona. They followed it up with the signing of Kamara from OM.
We now hear that the club has agreed with Sevilla for a deal to bring defender Diego Carlos to Villa Park. The transfer fee is rumoured to be around £26m.
The club in their website stated: “Aston Villa can confirm the Club has reached an agreement with Sevilla FC for the transfer of Diego Carlos for an undisclosed fee.
“The player will travel to England in the next few hours to complete a medical and finalise personal terms.”
Sevilla FC confirmed the same through a statement in their official website. The statement read: “Sevilla FC and Premier League side Aston Villa FC have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Brazilian centre-back Diego Carlos, subject to the player passing his medical in England and finalising contract details.
“Sevilla FC would like to thank the player for his work during all these years in Seville. And wishes him the best of luck in his new journey.”
Newcastle United tried to sign the Brazilian in January. However, they refused to pay the £38m that Sevilla demanded. With Carlos joining Aston Villa, sources claim that the Magpies will go for Tyrone Mings.
