In Sunday’s season-opening 4-0 victory over Villarreal, Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman was pleased by the influence of Ansu Fati.
However, he tempered the hype surrounding the teenager by disclosing his pre-season worries for him.
“We must highlight Ansu Fati’s game and results,” Koeman told reporters. “Last week, I worried a little about him not getting the maximum performance standard in the pre-season.”
“One of my complaints was that he was not successful in the friendly against Elche. Today he was. His strength was immense out wide, he played a fantastic game and we took advantage of his quality,” he continued.
“He’s just 17 years old and he’s going to have a wonderful career, but he must improve. He needs a bit of focus sometimes.”
