Former Napoli centre-back David López has joined Girona on a two year deal from Espanyol. Blanquivermells announced: “David López, experience for the defensive line. The center-back joins Girona with a contract for two seasons.
“David López, 32 years old and with a long career in the First Division, will reinforce the defense of Girona FC. The former Napoli centre-back who can also act as a pivot or central midfielder, arrives free and has committed himself for two seasons with one more optional depending on objectives. López will be presented in the coming days as a new Girona FC player.
“David López’s career was always linked to RCD Espanyol, where he has been for 9 seasons. After training at clubs such as Sant Cugat, CE Mercantil and CE Damm. He arrived at the parakeet club in his last year of youth. Loaned to CD Leganés and SD Huesca, he also played for two seasons at Napoli. A team with which he would win the Italian Super Cup in 2014. After two years in Italian football he returned to Espanyol in the summer of 2016. And has since been a fixture in the blue and white defensive scheme. Since his debut in the First Division in 2010, he has played 237 official matches with the RCD Espanyol. Scoring 12 goals and providing 9 assists.”
