Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has summed up the first leg of the Europa League 1/8 final against Manchester United (1-1).
“We aim to make Milan better and get them back on track,” said Pioli to UEFA’s official website.
“In that sense, matches like this are the best and I’m happy to play against a team like Manchester United,” he added.
“It was a good match and we are happy with the result but we will need to play as good again to get past such a strong team.”
“I keep telling the boys that I am not coaching ordinary players, but incredible players who give their all in every match. They are fantastic,” he said.
“Before the match, we would have happily settled for a 1-1 draw. But now we know we could have done better.
“This team has a very strong spirit and we want to control every match. The way we play requires complete concentration from everyone. Despite the fact that we play a lot of games, the lads don’t relax a bit. I just don’t have enough compliments for them.”
