Paris Saint-Germain vs Manchester City

The first leg of the Paris Saint-Germain vs Manchester City semi-final clash in Champions League will soon go down. The two continental giants meet at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday.

Les Parisiens advanced to the final four only because they has more away goals than defending champions Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Man City beat Borussia Dortmund fair and square with a 4-2 on aggregate.

Both teams had successful domestic results over the weekend. PSG defeated Metz 3-1 in Ligue 1.

City defeated Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup final, to win the cup.

Team news

PSG:

Juan Bernat is the only one out on reported injury as Mauricio Pochettino prepares for Manchester City’s visit.

Pochettino could opt for a 4-3-3 formation once more.

In such a scenario, PSG’s manager could choose Kylian Mbappe to lead the charge.

Strong backups like Moise Kean, Julian Draxler, and Mauro Icardi are also available.

Idrissa Gueye is set to start alongside Leandro Paredes and Marco Verratti in midfield.

Marquinhos, Abdou Diallo, and Rafinha were all benched in Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Metz. Now too, only Marquinhos may start.

Paris Saint-Germain possible starting lineup: Navas; Florenzi, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Diallo; Gueye, Paredes; Di Maria, Verratti, Neymar; Mbappe

Manchester City:

After Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero both returned for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.

So, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola also has a completely healthy squad for the midweek trip to Paris.

John Stones missed the 1-0 victory over Tottenham due to a suspension.

Now, he could replace Aymeric Laporte in the defence, despite the latter’s winning goal at Wembley.

Ederson, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Gabriel Jesus were all used as substitutes on Sunday. They are expected to debut now.

Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy, and Ferran Torres are among those pushing for a place in the starting lineup.

Manchester City possible starting lineup: Ederson; Walker, Dias, Stones, Cancelo; Rodri, Gundogan, De Bruyne; Mahrez, Silva, Foden

Prediction

  • PSG will be hoping that wins over Saint-Etienne and Angers mean that they will succeed at the Parc des Princes. Still, Man City are a better team than most of their domestic rivals.
  • City are more than capable of earning a victory in Paris on Wednesday night.

Guardiola’s side could and should have scored more against Spurs at Wembley.

Neymar and Mbappe – assuming he is passed fit – are capable of cracking almost any European defense, though.

Still, City may have a slight advantage due to their strong lineup.

We can see a high-scoring game on the Etihad turf on the return leg

Our Prediction: Paris Saint-Germain vs Manchester City – 2:3
