Manchester City vs Paris Saint-Germain

Manchester City will host Paris Saint-Germain for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Etihad. With both teams eyeing the final in Istanbul, the Manchester City vs Paris Saint-Germain will kick off on Tuesday night.

Indian fans can watch the match live at 12:30 AM tonight.

Pep Guardiola’s side won 1-2 in the first leg at the Parc des Princes last week. An early header from Marquinhos was answered by goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez in the second half.

Manchester City vs Paris Saint-Germain Team news

Manchester City:

Pep Guardiola from Manchester City has a fully healthy team to choose from ahead of PSG’s visit for the second time this season.

Pep Guardiola made sweeping changes to the XI that started at the Parc des Princes last week for Saturday’s 2-0 win at Crystal Palace.

So, just two players who started at Selhurst Park last week – Ederson and Rodri – can start again here.

Guardiola’s only alteration in the side that ended the 2-1 first-leg win Oleksandr Zinchenko, who inspired off the bench.

Kevin De Bruyne will start as a false nine.

However, Ferran Torres and Sergio Aguero both scored in London and will be fighting each other for a starting spot.

Manchester City possible starting lineup:

Ederson; Walker, Dias, Stones, Zinchenko; Rodri, Gundogan, Silva; Mahrez, De Bruyne, Foden

PSG:

Idrissa Gueye is suspended against PSG after his red card in Paris last week.

Ander Herrera and Danilo Pereira vying for a spot alongside Leandro Paredes in the midfield.

The French have ruled out Juan Bernat. The visitors are also worried about the possible absence of talisman Kylian Mbappe.

Mauricio Pochettino will give Mbappe every chance to prove his fitness despite a calf problem. He missed the 2-1 victory over Lens due to this potential injury.

If Mbappe is ruled out, Mauro Icardi could take his place in the starting lineup.

Otherwise, Pochettino could still call up Julian Draxler and have Neymar, who scored and assisted on Saturday, spearhead the attack.

Paris Saint-Germain possible starting lineup:

Navas; Florenzi, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Bakker; Paredes, Herrera; Di Maria, Verratti, Neymar; Mbappe

Prediction

  • Last week, Manchester City came from behind to win the first leg 2-1 in Paris, thanks to two late goals.
  • Both teams enjoyed domestic success over the weekend. Man City defeated Crystal Palace 2-0, whereas PSG beat Lens 2-1 to keep their title aspirations alive.
  • But City’s most recent game at the Etihad Stadium ended in a 2-1 loss to Leeds. Moreover, two of their three home defeats this season have occurred in the last five games at Etihad Stadium.
  • Meanwhile, PSG bounced back from their first-leg defeat with a 2-1 victory over Lens at home. Further, the Parisian squad has been outstanding on the road, winning all ten of their away games since February. Eight of these victories had a tally that would be enough to beat City and into the Champions League final.

City could be tempted to sit back and only defend against PSG, because even a 1-0 loss won’t disqualify them.

Guardiola’s side may reach the final with a minimal performance here, but the host manager won’t tolerate such a performance.

The predicted return of Mbappe would be a big boost to PSG’s goal-scoring exploits.

However, a well-rested attacking contingent on City’s end will be difficult to handle for any defense in the game.

So, we expect a close affair to end in a tie as City book their plane tickets to Istanbul.

Our Prediction: Manchester City 1 – 1 PSG
