Laporta Wants Messi for a Lifetime…of Pay Cuts!

Barcelona’s new president, Joan Laporta, has certain plans for team striker Lionel Messi.

Laporta intends to offer the player a contract with a pay cut, with the agreement being for life.

The Argentine’s current contract with the club expires in the summer.

So, Laporta and Messi may soon meet to discuss the situation, writes Mundo Deportivo.

And the former wants to persuade the Argentine to stay at the club.

The 33-year-old forward has played 25 La Liga games this season, scoring 21 goals and making 7 assists.

The term of agreement Laporta suggests for him would reduce the financial loss Messi would suffer by agreeing to a pay cut.

Laporta also believes that Messi’s pay cut will set an example for the rest of the club’s players.
