Barcelona’s management are interested in signing striker Sergio Agüero. But Catalans coach Ronald Koeman is opposed to a deal for Agüero.
Agüero has announced he will leave Manchester City in the summer.
There are links between Agüero and Barcelona, and Catalan management are not entirely averse to the idea.
The Catalans want two new strikers, after all.
But, according to Diario Sport, Koeman is opposed to a deal for Agüero. The 58-year-old has not changed his stance on the Argentine striker.
Koeman prefers 32-year-old forward Memphis Depay from Lyon, who will also become a free agent this summer.
The coach is convinced that Depay will adapt better to Barcelona’s system of play.
Furthermore, Koeman also likes that the 25-year-old forward can be used in a variety of positions.
The coach thus does not want Agüero in the team.
Barca’s intention to sign Agüero or Depay is reportedly independent of the club’s desire to acquire Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
