Italy Are Five Games Away from a Record

Italy defeated Lithuania 2-0 in World Cup 2022 qualifying. And now, Italy are five games away from a record.

Opta claims Roberto Mancini’s team have not lost 25 matches in a row (20 wins, 5 draws).

It is similar to the unbeaten run of the Squadra Azzurra under Marcello Lippi from 2004 to 2006.

But it was under Vittorio Pozzo that Italy did not lose 30 games in a row.

The record belongs to him, unbeaten from 1935 to 1939.

This means that now, Italy are five games away from a record to match Pozzo’s.
