Crystal Palace head coach Roy Hodgson has explained why club forward Wilfried Zaha refused to take a knee.
“Zaha made a statement that needs no elaboration. He explained his reasons. This guy believes that the power of this gesture is already lost, it has become part of everyday life. We know that he was absolutely right,” BBC quoted Hodgson as saying.
Zaha stood as others took a knee before the match against West Bromwich in a show of support for the BLM.
And his coach said: “I would, however, be very surprised if there was any negative response to him. If anyone is concerned about racism, abuse and a level playing field, it’s Wilfried Zaha himself. He is a face of this situation.”
