De Bruyne Scores City’s 100th Goal of the Season

Kevin De Bruyne scored Manchester City’s 100th goal of the season in Tuesday’s Champions League match against Borussia Monchengladbach.

De Bruyne thundered home a venomous left-footed shot that soared over Yann Sommer’s crossbar.

So, City scored their 100th goal of the 2020-21 season, continuing Pep Guardiola’s record of his top-flight teams scoring a century of goals in every season of his coaching career.

Now, only Manchester United has a longer streak of consecutive 100+ seasons among English top-flight clubs, having done so in each of Alex Ferguson’s final nine years in charge.

In the match, City took a 1-0 lead in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Borussia Monchengladbach, with what was their 100th goal.

Ilkay Gundogan then doubled City’s lead on the night after receiving a pass from Phil Foden, putting the team 4-0 up on aggregate.
