Butragueño Not Satisfied by the Refereeing of the Atletico Match

Real Madrid director Emilio Butragueño has expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of chief referee Alejandro Hernández in the La Liga match against Atletico (1-1).

At the end of the first half, the ball hit Atletico defender Felipe in the penalty area.

However, the referee did not award a penalty. And though the VAR system was used to assess the episode, the referee’s decision was not changed.

“It’s a penalty. A key decision. The sequence was correct: after the VAR the referee was asked to watch the episode. But he decided it wasn’t a penalty. We were unlucky again with Hernandez,” Butragueño told Movistar+.

“As for the game, had it not been for Oblak, we would have won. The second half was fine.”
