Buffon Football Academy Launched

Gianluigi Buffon, the Juventus goalkeeper, has launched an academy for goalkeeper education especially. The Buffon Football Academy, launched by Gigi, will ‘offer boys and girls aged eight to sixteen a highly specialized goalkeeper course.’

Gigi the Goalkeeper

Gianluigi Buffon, still playing for Juventus at 43, is widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time.

Gigi is a World Cup winning goalkeeper. In addition to this international glory, he has won 10 Scudetti, 5 Coppa Italia, and 7 Supercoppa Italiana with Juventus.

Not only did he win the UEFA Cup with Parma in 1998-99, he helped PSG bag the French Ligue 1 title during the one year that he stayed there.

The veteran goalkeeper might soon hang his boots up though, as he may imminently retire in the summer of 2023.

While the 43-year-old’s own future is thus unclear, he has devised a way to bequeath his knowledge to future generations.

He has established the Buffon Football Academy to educate and introduce young people to football, particularly the position of goalkeeper.

This unique academy, a treasure trove of his knowledge, will help many talented amateur footballers develop and refine their technique.

Gigi’s Words

“The Buffon Football Academy was created to offer boys and girls aged eight to 16 a highly specialised course, aimed at improving the technical skills of those who dream of a future in the world of football,” Buffon explained in a statement.

“It’s a complete package, with a personalised training programme created specifically for each goalkeeper,” he said of the highly specialized institution.

“We hope to be able to kick off the ‘Buffon Summer Camp’ as early as June and my wish is to be able to meet the guys on June 13 in Marina di Pietrasanta, but obviously the start of the activities is subject to the COVID emergency.”

“I have always believed in the value of training, even more so in this complicated period for each of us,” he informed fans of his sentiment for football education.
