Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta joked that his team’s Jekyll and Hyde success on Sunday will give him nightmares for the rest of his life.
In fact, Arteta told BBC Sport: “This game is going to give me a few nightmares because it is really difficult to stop some of the things we have been doing to hurt ourselves.”
The Gunners finished in a 3-3 draw with West Ham, which will haunt Arteta for a long time.
This match was vital to both sides’ European aspirations. However, West Ham seemed to be the only team that needed to be there early.
West Ham quickly went up 3-0, but it still felt like the lead should have been a lot more.
Jesse Lingard, Jarrod Bowen, and Tomas Soucek scored in the first 32 minutes.
Fortunately for Arsenal, however, Soucek made a mistake with an own goal, right before halftime. This reversed the tide of the game.
Another own goal by Craig Dawson and a header by Alexandre Lacazette were then enough to give the Gunners the most difficult one point they may have won.
