Updates on Indian Football Players – Chennaiyin Defeated NorthEast 2-1

Chennaiyin FC beat NorthEast United 2-1 for their second consecutive win in the Indian Super League (ISL) here on Monday. So, among other, similar updates on Indian football players, Chennaiyin defeated NorthEast 2-1 in an ISL fixture today, around evening.

Lallianzuala Chhangte first broke the scoreless deadlock with a powerful shot from a defensive error in the 41st minute.

But this lead did not last for long because VP Suhair restored parity in the 50th minute of the match.

Finally, however, Chennaiyin captain Anirudh Thapa sealed the deal with a fine, 74th-minute strike.

Thapa latched on to a ball coming from Rahim Ali and slotted it past the NorthEast United custodian.

This 2-1 win, as you can watch in the football match highlights, took the two-time champions to second spot with six points from two games.

Updates on Indian Football Players – Chennaiyin Defeated NorthEast 2-1

The First Half

Apart from a moment where Chhangte had seemingly beaten Subhasish Roy Chowdhury’s nearside, but finally couldn’t slot in a goal, NorthEast dominated play in the opening exchanges.

Indeed, Federico Gallego’s quality was on display as he peppered the Chennaiyin defence several times.

To keep the Highlanders on top, VP Suhair and Laldanmawia Ralte, too, had a few sniffs in the opposition box.

Unfortunately, Gallego could only last 24 minutes as he pulled up with an injury yet again.

NorthEast United, already missing the services of Deshorn Brown in the game, had to put in Pat Flottmann. They went in for an added defender.

The game was then thrown open because chances were being created at both ends.

Vishal Kaith just saved Suhair’s header from a long throw-in before Hernan Santana’s long-ranger also went mere inches above mark.

Chhangte, who had earlier blazed over the bar, made amends for this misfire before half time.

After some exquisite counter-press through the right, Reagan Singh slotted the ball into the net.

What happened was that Khassa Camara mistimed his interception. And it was Chhantge who pounced onto the ball to slot it home after a deflection off the bar.

The Second Half

Khalid Jamil made two changes, that is, substitution, after the break and results immediately started changing.

Five minutes in, VP Suhair, relatively unmarked, dodged the ball past Vishal Kaith from a long-throw in by Provat Lakra. So, NorthEast found their equaliser with more than 40 minutes to go.

Lalkhawpuimawia shot wide despite having an empty net to aim at. Gurjinder Kumar’s long ranger took a deflection off Slavko Damjanovic and ricocheted off the post.

Because Kaith was yet again out of position, the Mizoram-born striker failed to hand his team a goal’s lead.

Post the hour mark, however, Mirlan Murzaev found the back of the net. But referees deemed Rahim Ali’s through ball to the Kyrgyz to be offside.

It was then that the newly-annointed Chennaiyin FC captain Thapa had to have his final say in the game.

Murzaev laid in the midfielder from a long ball and Thapa sprinted full pace to go past marker Camara.

He shot fiercely to restore the lead, crucially closing the game in clear favour Chennaiyin FC.
