Messi Will Join PSG on a Football Transfer

Paris Saint-Germain were the favourites in the transfer news football around Lionel Messi after his Barcelona departure (the football news). And now, it indeed seems, Messi will join PSG on a football transfer to France in this summer transfer window.

Paris Saint-Germain is ready to offer Lionel Messi a massive contract worth €40 million (£34 million) per year after tax.

Messi’s desire to remain at Barcelona did not fructify into a contract extension. This is because the club confirmed on Thursday that they were unable to find a way to retain him.

There was no way for them to offer Messi a contract while also keeping within La Liga’s financial constraints. Indeed, Barcelona president Joan Laporta explained the heart-wrenching exit of their most loyal player in a live football press conference.

Following this dramatic exit, PSG have been chasing Lionel Messi’s signature for the past 24 hours, with success, it seems.

Mohamed Bouhafsi revealed that Messi intends to join PSG. He added that additional talks with his father will take place over the weekend to finalize the deal.

So, if the all the rumours are true, the Argentine superstar is nearing a sensational move to Parc des Princes.

In fact, some reports are saying PSG have booked the Eiffel Tower on August 10th to announce Messi’s football transfer.

Rumours have also cited Chelsea as potential suitors to rope Lionel Messi in.

But PSG are far ahead in the race for his signature, and it’s easy to see why. One only needs to examine the numbers they’re proposing to verify their superiority in the race for Messi.

According to L’Equipe, PSG is willing to pay Messi a ludicrous £34 million-per-season salary, and that too, after tax deductions.

For readers to make an educated comparison, Neymar earns a slightly less absurd salary – £30 million per year – at PSG.

These alleged figures for Messi are part of a three-year contract, the last of which he can opt out of.

PSG’s primary goal is thus to persuade the legendary forward to commit to at least two years at the club. After this duration, he will be free to pursue other opportunities.

Previously, the Argentine has expressed a desire to end his career in Major League Soccer or in his homeland. And PSG will even go so far as to make that happen for Messi if only he signs with them.
