A frustrated Thomas Tuchel fumed that everything is going against Chelsea after they suffered yet another draw (the football news). Chelsea sabotaged an initial lead, through Romelu Lukaku’s header, to tie at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday in Premier League instead. But there were some dubious refereeing and VAR decisions, per Tuchel, that also contributed to their bad luck last night.
A late Danny Welbeck equaliser condemned the Blues side to a damaging 1-1 draw (football scores) with Brighton on Wednesday.
Gaining only one point from this fixture and league leaders Manchester City winning elsewhere (football today) means Chelsea remain runners-up.
Thomas Tuchel Fumed That Everything Is Going against Chelsea
In the face of such disappointment, the Blues boss understandably infuriated with the lack of VAR intervention at one point.
Christian Pulisic appealed for a penalty in the second half, which he didn’t receive, and Tuchel calls the incident “a joke”.
The Chelsea head coach told Amazon: “We have a horrible decision from the referee for 2-0. [VAR didn’t even check it]. Everything against us. We have two injuries again.”
“The penalty is a joke, honestly a joke, not to interfere from VAR,” Tuchel added to reporters.
Tuchel also lamented injuries to defenders Reece James and Andreas Christensen, who had to force themselves off the pitch mid-play.
“We simply have too many players coming back from long injuries and Covid. The injury of Reece James was a huge blow,” the German coach said about this further blow to Chelsea’s spirits.
“Andreas was one of the top players on the pitch and at some point, it is too much against a Brighton team with nothing to lose.”
