Tebas Thinks PSG’s Unearned Investment Capacity is Ruining Football

La Liga chairman Xavier Tebas has condemned Paris Saint-Germain bosses for their unbridled transfer policy once again (the football news). Tebas thinks PSG’s unearned investment capacity is ruining football, its integrity, he seems to mean.

Previously, he accosted Paris Saint-Germain for “cheating” by allowing exorbitant expenditure, unthinkable for other clubs, on this summer’s football transfers.

Now, he implies that PSG are slowly monopolizing the transfer market, in a way. And while we realize this is an extreme statement, there is some truth to it – PSG definitely have an advantage.

Tebas Thinks PSG’s Unearned Investment Capacity is Ruining Football

“Do I criticize PSG for having Messi and Neymar? Of course, I do not,” Tebas stated, Goal.com reports.

“I criticize them because they don’t earn the money to have the squad they have which leads to a distortion of competition at the football market. It doesn’t correspond to a real sponsorship. How could they have a squad worth almost 600 million euros? Even if they win the Champions League, they won’t earn more than 45 million. That’s impossible.

“I don’t care if Lionel Messi or Neymar are staying at PSG but all this damages the European football.

“Can PSG meet the financial fair play requirements? Not the one we see today. I am not jealous that Qatar hasn’t invested in Spain. It’s just the same thing I say to Almeria (which belongs to Saudi Arabia).”

“Club-states that invest without limits are destabilizing football,” he boldly claimed.
