Serie A Football Results – Verona’s Giovanni Simeone Scored Four Goals

Giovanni Simeone has scored four goals against Lazio to help Hellas Verona win at home. So, in one of several of last night’s Serie A football results, Verona’s Giovanni Simeone scored four goals against Lazio.

With these four goals Hellas Verona came up 4-1 and beat their Italian rivals Lazio for the first time in 8 years.

Verona are now placed 11th in the Serie A table with as many points after 9 games. Meanwhile, new Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri’s men are 8th with only 3 points more than Verona’s, viz. 14 points.

AC Milan ended their four-game unbeaten run last week, because they lost to Porto (football scores) after beating Verona. (They then won their football match against Bologna, though.)

And after this, however, Hellas Verona were looking to get back on track against Biancocelesti.

They even had numerous opportunities to take the lead in the opening moments.

Ivan Ilic blazed over from inside the box, before guiding a difficult header just wide of Pepe Reina’s goal. And then, Antonin Barak came closer to scoring but Reina denied his attempt as well.

The hosting side’s persistence did eventually pay off in the 30th minute, when Giovanni Simeone scored the match’s first goal.

He made no mistake in firing an excellent shot inside the right post. Simeone’s exquisite strike, from outside the box nestling in the top corner, then rounded off a superb first half.

So, not only did he secure a brace in the first half itself, he also effectively doubled his side’s lead.

The visitors barely threatened the hosts in the first half. But it only took a minute into the second half for Lazio to pull a goal back. Ciro Immobile added himself to the scoreboard with a consolation goal for Lazio.

The visitors couldn’t build on Immobile’s goal, however, because Verona restored their two-goal advantage in the 61st minute instead. Again, the scorer for the hosts was Simeone, who thus completed a phenomenal hat-trick.

The ‘Biancocelesti’ did attempt to retort in the final 20 minutes, but Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s header merely hit the bar. Also, Montipo denied Patric and Luis Alberto, who both attempted to reclaim the match for Lazio to some extent.

Apparently, however, Simeone hadn’t had his final word yet as the striker scored his fourth goal of the night. He did so at the very end, in death time, his goal registering at 90+2 minutes.

Hellas Verona – SS Lazio 4:1

Goals: Simeone 30’, 36’, 62’, 90+2’ – Immobile 46’

Atalanta – Udinese 1:1

Goals: Malinovsky 56’ – Beto 90+4’
