Salzburg Director – Adeyemi Won’t Make a Football Transfer in January

Karim Adeyemi has been linked with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, although Salzburg has stated that they will not sell him. Now, it has been made clear by the Salzburg director – Adeyemi won’t make a football transfer in January off 2022.

European powers have long seen Karim Adeyemi (the football news) as a future star. The 19-year-old forward has spent his childhood in the Bayern Munich academy before they released him and he joined Unterhaching.

And it was in his time there that he drew the attention of a number of international clubs.

From these clubs, Adeyemi ultimately chose Salzburg, despite Chelsea being among the clubs he turned down. And truly, the move has gone well for both parties, the forward and the club, so far.

Adeyemi played at the Red Bull Arena early last year after an excellent 18 months on loan. He was at Salzburg’s sister club Liefering in the second division. During that year and a half, Adeyemi played 10 Austrian Bundesliga games before the end of the season.

The teenager’s playing time grew again in 2020-21, with 29 appearances, and he has really taken off this season. He has made 11 league starts, the same as previous season, as he has established himself as a key player.

Adeyemi has scored 10 league goals this season, three more than anybody else in the Austrian Bundesliga.

He has also scored three goals in the Champions League. So far, only four players have scored more than this, including Robert Lewandowski and Mohamed Salah.

Despite this amazing start to the season, though, Adeyemi will not be leaving Salzburg in January, according to Christoph Freund. Freund is the Austrian club’s sporting director.

Many clubs are apparently very keen on signing Adeyemi. And that is because he is a lively and technically gifted attacker who likes to rush at defenders.

And with good reason – he has the most of anybody in Austria’s top division with 60 dribble attempts this season.

Plus, Adeyemi’s outstanding play this season has earned him a spot in Germany’s senior national squad already. The gifted forward has featured in three World Cup qualifiers. He even scored his first goal in a 6-0 win over Armenia in September.

Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool are both allegedly keeping an eye on the young player.

But Salzburg director Freund is skeptical that any deal would actually be completed before the end of the 2021-22 season.

“Karim will finish the season with us,” Freund told Sky Austria. “He should fill the role he has right now for the whole season.

“That is clearly the main focus in Karim’s head, and also in ours. I don’t know what would have to happen, what scenario would have to occur, for Karim to not finish the season with us.

“He is on the right track and enjoys playing. That fits in well here.”
