After transfer rumours of a Paris Saint-Germain move, Cristiano Ronaldo might make a football transfer to Manchester City after all. L’Equipe claims the Juventus star is attempting to engineer a move to Manchester City, transferring in exchange for Bernardo Silva.
The new Juventus head coach, Massimiliano Allegri, recently decided to not start superstar Cristiano Ronaldo Jr.
Instead, he confined CR7 to the bench initially in Sunday’s 2-2 Serie A draw with Udinese.
Ronaldo entering the pitch only after an hour, at the 60th minute, has fueled speculation about an imminent Turin exit.
Most media outlets now believe that both parties, Juventus and Ronaldo, are content to part ways this summer transfer window.
However, Juventus will need for a club to pay at least €30 million for the transfer fee of the superstar. Any potential suitors may also have to cover his €30 million per season salary.
Already, it’s clear that only a few clubs can do both – pay his transfer fee as well as his salary.
Indeed, the list realistically narrows down to just two clubs – Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.
Ronaldo Might Make a Football Transfer to Manchester City
Khalifa Bin Hamad Al-Thani, a member of the ruling Al-Thani family, posted an image hinting toward a PSG move.
Only yesterday, Al-Thani posted an image of Cristiano Ronaldo edited to wear a PSG shirt and placed beside Lionel Messi.
Al-Thani, who owns Paris Saint-Germain, posted a photo of Lionel Messi and Cristiano standing side by side in PSG jerseys with the caption, “Maybe?”
Meanwhile, however, according to L’Equipe, Ronaldo is attempting to engineer a move to Manchester City by contacting City players.
Ronaldo is reaching out to players within the Manchester City squad and attempting to create the conditions for a move.
For one, Ronaldo has reportedly talked to Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, who could theoretically join Juventus in an exchange deal.
On the other hand, City has reportedly offered €150 million for Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
However, Ronaldo would anyway be a far more cost-effective and proven (to be well-performing) option and lastly, available right away.
According to a French report, Ronaldo even believes he and City can reach an agreement as soon as this weekend.
