Premier League Football Results – Phil Foden Has Made Amends

As we already covered in our sister site’s Premier League football results, Phil Foden has made amends for Manchester City. After coach Pep Guardiola reprimanded him for partying (the football news), Foden scored to save City by 0-1 over Brentford.

Liverpool lost at Leicester City on Tuesday (football match) and Chelsea drew again, with Brighton & Hove Albion, on Wednesday. As a result of these two runners-up City have seized complete control of the title race.

Chelsea have 42 points from 20 whereas Liverpool are on 41 points, having played one game less than the top-two.

And City held on to first position with 50 points from 20 games, albeit with a few real scares yesterday.

They were far from their slick best in west London, actually, with Brentford always looking capable of salvaging some goals.

Still, it is the fourth time that Pep Guardiola has enjoyed a 10-game winning streak since becoming Manchester City’s manager.

Meanwhile, Brentford remain in 14th place, which is nine points above the relegation zone.

Pep omitted Foden from Manchester City’s starting line-up in their two previous league games against Newcastle United and Leicester City. Foden had recently incurred the wrath of Guardiola for having a night on the town with his teammate Jack Grealish.

Restored to the starting eleven at Brentford, though, the 21-year-old has now made amends with a finish of real quality.

“Round Christmas you have to keep your foot on the gas and keep focused. This team is doing that,” Foden said.

As for the Citizens, they are beginning to look unstoppable. Despite lacking the flair that had seen them score 17 goals in their last three games, City showed they can also win by grinding hard for minimal results when required.
