Premier League Football Results – Eagles and Saints Shared 4 Goals

Hosts Crystal Palace secured a 2-2 home draw with their guests Southampton in the Premier League on Wednesday. So, among other Premier League football results, Eagles and Saints shared 4 goals equally between them, securing one point each.

This 2-2 draw result lifted Crystal Palace two places up to 11th position with 20 points from 17 games.

Meanwhile, Southampton stayed at 15th place in the Premier League table because they have just 17 points. They are thus six above the bottom three now, although 18th-placed Burnley have two games in hand.

In this football match full of highlights, forward Jordan Ayew scored his first goal for Crystal Palace in 13 months.

The Ghana international netted from close range in the 65th minute after quickfire goals from James Ward-Prowse and Armando Broja.

These two Southampton goals had cancelled out Wilfried Zaha’s early opener for hosts Crystal Palace in a pulsating first half.

For the Eagles hosts, Zaha struck in the second minute when he cut inside. He fired a low shot past two defenders inside the near post.

Subsequently, Palace missed several chances to double their lead before Ward-Prowse levelled for Saints instead, with a 32nd-minute free kick.

The Southampton captain curled in a delightful effort from 25 metres. And home goalkeeper Jack Butland was unable to keep it out although he got his fingertips to glaze the ball.

This equalizer left the home side reeling, and Albania striker Broja completely reversed the tide in the 36th minute. He took the ball in his stride and drilled a low shot from 20 metres into the bottom right corner.

Visiting goalkeeper Willy Caballero then denied Odsonne Edouard with a double save in the 58th minute.

Caballero also deflected away the striker’s shot seven minutes later. However, as the ball rebounded away from the away keeper, Ayew, perfectly situated, swept it in from a tight angle.

Neither side were able to find a breakthrough in the closing stages, though Palace looked more likely to score. They performed several raids down the right flank, but all in vain.
