Premier League Football Prediction – Tottenham vs Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea prepare for battle in an exciting London derby in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. After the two teams’ contrasting results in their first European encounters, here’s our Premier League football prediction – Tottenham vs Chelsea.

In midweek, the hosts drew 2-2 with Rennes in their first Europa Conference League Group G football match (football prediction).

Meanwhile, Chelsea began their Champions League defense with a 1-0 victory over Zenit St Petersburg and here’s football results therein.

Team News

Tottenham

  • Japhet Tanganga is seeing out a suspension for one match following his red card against Crystal Palace last week.
  • With Eric Dier doubtful, Cristian Romero could make his full debut at the heart of the defense alongside Davinson Sanchez.
  • Steven Bergwijn hobbled off in the first half of Tottenham’s Europa League match against Rennes on Thursday. And not only is Bergwijn unlikely to play again here, but Lucas Moura is also a question mark.
  • Son Heung-Min (the football news) and Ryan Sessegnon may play here after undergoing evaluation.
  • Tanguy Ndombele made his season debut in France and is a viable option to start now.

Tottenham Hotspur possible starting lineup: Lloris; Emerson, Sanchez, Romero, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Skipp; Gil, Alli, Son; Kane

Chelsea

  • N’Golo Kante was unavailable for the 1-0 Champions League win over Zenit in midweek. But he could be open to play here for Thomas Tuchel here.
  • Meanwhile, Reece James returns from suspension to compete for the Blues, but Christian Pulisic is definitely out.
  • Kai Havertz could replace Hakim Ziyech, who managed to play on Tuesday.

Chelsea possible starting lineup: Mendy; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger; James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso; Mount, Havertz; Lukaku

Premier League Football Prediction – Tottenham vs Chelsea

  • Tottenham’s unblemished start to the league season came to a sad end at Crystal Palace on Saturday. On the other hand, a second successive London derby at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium should provide plenty of motivation for Spurs.
  • Meanwhile, after defeating Aston Villa 3-0 the night before, Chelsea kept their unbeaten start to the season going with a 1-0 win over Zenit. The Blues are as yet undefeated across their last three trips to London. This is because they have won the previous two league meetings between the two on Spurs’ turf. This lucky streak could continue on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs’ injury problems in attack are growing. But Sanchez and Romero potentially returning will at least alleviate their concerns about the defense before Tuchel’s rampant forces arrive.

If Santo’s first-choice backline is available, it’s difficult to see Chelsea scoring multiple goals in the capital.

But the visitors’ tenacious defense should shine through as they scrape a narrow win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Our Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Chelsea
