Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders has reflected back on his senior Jurgen Klopp’s 6 years in charge of the club. And, among other news in football today, the assistant manager has high praise to offer Liverpool’s esteemed head coach. Says Pep Lijnders on Jurgen Klopp – ‘He gave Liverpool an identity again.’
Kudos to Klopp!
“Everyone saw what he’s done with the team and the fans over these years. All the prizes were a result of this continuity and stability,” said Pepijn Lijnders, as Liverpool’s club press office reported.
In an appraisal that would make anyone beam, said Pep Lijnders on Jurgen Klopp: “He gave Liverpool an identity again.”
“He knows what he wants,” Lijnders then continued to say. “That’s always the most important thing. He gives trust and confidence to the ones he works with, gives everyone the feeling they are a part of something bigger and everyone inside has this importance in the same common goal – both the players and the staff.”
The assistant manager said: “If you want to describe Jurgen, I would say authentic is the right word. He didn’t change my passion and beliefs, he changed my personality and my view on life and football.”
“The club has so much potential; and, to fulfil it, you need to go back to the holy trinity of the past. Manager, fans and squad with just one belief,” Lijnders added.
“When this happens, the football world conspires in favor of Liverpool Football Club. When a club is fighting for 30 years to win the Premier League, when a club never won the FIFA Club World Cup before, when a club gets 97 points and wins the Champions League that season, it’s clear it exceeded our expectations.”
“For me, Jurgen is like what Cruyff was for Barcelona, he’s creating something that goes beyond years. Long may it continue,” he thus wished Klopp and Liverpool well.
