Official Football Transfer – Norwich Have Appointed Dean Smith

Norwich City have just announced Dean Smith’s hiring as the club’s new head coach. After he left Aston Villa last week on an official football transfer, Norwich have appointed Dean Smith as coach instead.

Representing Aston Villa between 2018 and 2021, Dean Smith led his side to promotion in the Premier League. He brought them up from the Championship during his first season in charge, followed by two successful Premier League campaigns.

Moreover, it is Smith who steered ‘The Lions’ to the to the 2019/20 Carabao Cup final. They ended as a runner-up behind Manchester City.

This season though, the Canaries are at the very bottom of the table with only one victory and 5 points after 11 Premier League games.

But Aston Villa discarded Dean Smith to replace him with Steven Gerrard (football transfer news), still, fans must not worry!

Former Aston Villa Dean Smith has joined another club already – the English club of Norwich City.

The 50-year-old manager has signed a 2-and-a-half-year contract running until the summer of 2024. And Craig Shakespeare will be joining him as his assistant head coach.

Smith has expressed his delight after his unveiling at Carrow Road on Monday.

He told Norwich’s official website: “It has been a whirlwind seven days, but I’m really pleased to be back and working for Norwich City in the Premier League.

“Clearly, there has been some wonderful work that has gone into this football club over the last four and a half years. It is now the job of myself and Craig to continue and improve on that work with the ultimate aim of surviving in the Premier League.

“Norwich City is a big club, with a massive hardcore of supporters who are fully understanding in what it means to be part of the club and its community.

“From the age of 16 I’ve been working in football. I think in that time I’ve had four months out and didn’t enjoy it. It’s great to get straight back in with a club that are determined to be progressive.

“I was really impressed with the idea, structure and vision that is already in place at the club.”
