Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed on Saturday that they are working on a deal for Marcel Sabitzer.

RB Leipzig could only sell the Austria international to their German rivals and Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich, for €16 million.

Now, though Sabitzer would normally command a much higher fee, he has less than a year left on his contract.

Sabitzer has thus agreed to join Bayern Munich, and will reunite with the new head coach at Munich, Julian Nagelsmann.

Nagelsmann joined Bayern Munich from Leipzig at the end of last season, as well as centre-back Dayot Upamecano.

However, this does not appear to have bothered Nagelsmann.

Leipzig themselves, meanwhile, are seemingly pulling off a coup to bring in Sabitzer’s replacement.

And as their first and foremost choice to replace Sabitzer, Leipzig are expecting youngster Ilaix Moriba to join from Barcelona (football transfer news).

Moriba, a technically gifted midfielder, broke into the Barcelona first team last season and appeared in 18 games across all competitions.

At the age of 18 years and 25 days, he became the youngest player this century to provide an assist on his La Liga debut on February 13, this year.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old Marcel Sabitzer joined RB Leipzig from Rapid Vienna in 2014, and he now leaves the club as captain.
