After also enlisting Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho as an official football transfer, Aston Villa have signed on Lucas Digne from Everton.
Aston Villa have agreed a £25 million ($34m) deal for him, Goal.com can confirm in football today.
Digne spent three-and-a-half years on Everton’s books after signing from Barcelona in the summer of 2018. During this time, he played in 127 games across all competitions for the Merseyside outfit.
Indeed, the 28-year-old had been a key player in the squad until a public fallout with head coach Rafael Benitez.
This was in December, with Chelsea, who were also initially keen on him, also deciding against making an official bid.

But now, the Frenchman is moving on to another of Everton’s Premier League rivals – Aston Villa.
Digne will undergo a medical at Villa Park on January 12 after the two clubs agreed on a £25m deal.
Chelsea were also keen on signing the left-back, although they decided against making an offer. After all, they are now focusing their attention on recalling Emerson from his loan spell with Lyon.
It is understood Newcastle were also keen on a deal for the France international.
But he will imminently join Villa and compete with Matt Targett for the left-back berth.
Digne, meanwhile, could be available to make his debut alongside Barca loanee Philippe Coutinho when Villa take on Manchester United. Steven Gerrard’s side will face the Red Devils in the Premier League on January 15.
