According to Foot Mercato, Newcastle United is already making preparations for the next season. Part of the club’s plans may involve securing Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and his talents during this summer’s transfer window.
The Magpies are reportedly considering a change of ownership with a Saudi group possibly purchasing Mike Ashley from the club. The Premier League side will tend to have substantial transfer funds if the deal were to go through. These funds may go toward buying the Napoli star, as according to the report, the club made contact with Napoli to negotiate a possible bid for Koulibaly.
The report claims that Steve Bruce’s side had been in touch with Napoli over the prospect of signing Koulibaly in a £70 m contract ahead of the 2020-21 season. Senegal International has also been linked to Manchester United, Manchester City and Real Madrid.
Nonetheless, a new report suggested that, despite having a long-standing interest in its services, United did not see the center-back as a ‘critical priority’.
