And, by his own admission, Mourinho felt 14 after winning his 1000th football match as a coach.
A quick recap – Roma won a Serie A match at Stadio Olimpico with a last tie-breaker last night. After Bryan Cristante’s initial goal, Filip Djuricic equalized the score 1-1 for Sassuolo. Finally, El Shaarawy broke the deadlock to score and Roma won through this 2-1 tally.
Mourinho Felt 14 after Winning His 1000th Football Match as a Coach
And now, new Roma coach Jose Mourinho (football transfer news) has expressed is ecstasy over playing his 1000th coaching match. He is even more delighted because his Roma team have won this match for him.
“During the week I lied to myself telling everyone this wasn’t a special game. I was trying to convince myself it wasn’t special. But it was,” the Portuguese told the press, as Football Italia have reported in football today.
“It was a match with a spectacular number for me which until last day of my life I will remember. I was terrified the eternal memory would be on defeat,” he went on to admit.
“It was an incredible sensation. It could’ve been 6:6 or 7:7, Sassuolo could’ve win 2:1 as well but Rui [Patricio] made a couple of incredible saves.
The former Tottenham Hotspur head coach said: “It was an absolutely extraordinary match.”
“Luckily we won and I was running like a child,” he added further.
“I didn’t feel 58 years old tonight, I felt 14 – the age when you start to dream of a career in football,” he shared, joyous, finally.
