Mohamed Salah Refused to Comment on Finishing 7th in Ballon d’Or

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah refused to comment on finishing 7th in Ballon d’Or, in the France Football award’s voting poll. And while Lionel Messi won the award (the football news), Salah admitted that he hopes to finish higher next year.

Reds forward Mohamed Salah’s seventh-place sparked much controversy, given the Egyptian attacker’s prolific performance last season.

Salah scored 31 times for Liverpool in 2020-21. And he has already chalked up 19 goals and eight assists in just 19 appearances this season.

Most recently, Salah also scored Liverpool’s second and third goals in Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Premier League rivals Everton. His second finish, completing his brace, came as the result of a Seamus Coleman mistake (read about the football match).

“I expected him [Coleman] to do a mistake which he did. The game was tough at 2-1 but at 3-1 it becomes much better,” Salah said, while talking to Amazon.

And with 19 goals already this season, including 13 in the Premier League itself, Salah believes he’s just begun. He insist this is just the start of what could be a big year in Liverpool.

“Hopefully many more,” he said when asked how many goals he plans on scoring this season. “My first target is to win something at the club: league, Champions League, hopefully both.”

Though fans and critics alike hail him as one of the world’s top players, Salah flopped at the Ballon d’Or.

But Mohamed Salah refused to criticise those responsible for him finishing all the way down in seventh place.

Although, Salah did say he expects better going forward.

When Amazon asked him how he felt about the vote, Salah replied: “I have no comment”. He then said that he “hopefully” will finish higher next year.
