Dynamo Kiev’s Ukraine forward Artem Besedin was banned for a year on Tuesday after he failed a drug check at a Europa League match.
UEFA stated that the 24-year-old had traces of the forbidden stimulant Fonturacetam in his blood. The UEFA ban lasts until December 19, with the player deciding to not appeal the sanction.
Besedin has been checked in the Europa League group stage following Dynamo’s defeat to Malmo on 28 November.
Fonturacetam was first developed in 1983 to aid astronauts from the former Soviet Union fight exhaustion in space.
