Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has suggested that Jurgen Klopp could lead Bayern in the future.
“They say he won’t leave Liverpool for the German national team. But maybe he will do it for Bayern Munich?” Schmeichel said for CBS Sports.
Indeed, after Joachim Leve’s decision to leave after Euro 2020, Klopp had earlier denied that he could take charge of the German national team instead.
“Let’s think about this scenario. Suppose Hans-Dieter Flick leaves for the German national team, which is not a fact. Then Bayern will need a new coach and Jurgen Klopp has already been offered the job. It’s a top position! And that top position is in his home country,” Schmeichel said.
Klopp, a German specialist, worked in the Bundesliga from 2001 to 2015. He first coached Mainz and then Borussia Dortmund.
